Drawing & Yoga

* NOW ONLY ONE SPACE LEFT*

Thursday 23rd March, 10am – 4pm

Come and spend a day in the heart of the glorious South Downs.  Get creative on our first Art & Yoga day with Jo Penticost, Claudia Lowry and Cathy Ford who will be joining us in the 16th century barn space, The Old Workshop.

This fun and relaxed day will start off with restorative yoga led by Jo Penticost, followed by an informative but mindful Downland walk with Cathy Ford from Heads Up Navigation. We will then have a delicious and homemade lunch of soup with soda bread, salad plate and cake.  In the afternoon, Claudia Lowry will be leading creative drawing exercises using seasonal and foraged flowers and foliage as inspiration, in a variety of mediums including charcoal, graphite and watercolour.

All equipment and materials will be provided for yoga and art. No need to bring anything with you apart from a few layers, loose clothing for yoga and a good pair of walking shoes. No experience necessary – everyone is welcome!

This gentle and restorative day will be focused on unwinding and having some time to yourself whilst meeting new people. We will have a maximum of eight people.

The day will take place in our 16th century barn space nestled in the heart of the South Downs from 10am – 4pm and cost £120pp.

Yoga with Jo Penticost

Jo teaches a range of yoga styles from Hatha to Yin/Restorative and Chair Yoga. Her focus is to always listen to the body and take each posture slowly and mindfully. Pranayama (breath practice) and guided relaxation meditation is always important of Jo’s practice.

She is extremely happy to teach those who haven’t tried yoga before and those who already have an established practice. The aim of Jo’s classes is to feel in tune with your body – energised and calm.

Walking with maps and Cathy Ford

Cathy teaches navigation skills to complete beginners on the South Downs and will be taking you on a guided one hour walk before lunch. She encourages people to use compasses and maps so that they feel confident to widen their walking experience.

Cathy has a fun and friendly approach to encouraging people to make the most of the outdoors.

Art in the afternoon with Claudia Lowry

Join Claudia who will be leading creative drawing exercises using seasonal and foraged flowers and foliage as inspiration, in a variety of mediums including charcoal, graphite and watercolour.  A sense of freedom in your drawing will be encouraged with an emphasis on quick expressive sketches to start moving to a longer, more considered drawing to finish. All levels welcome!

Claudia is an artist and illustrator based in West Sussex. She is inspired by the surrounding countryside and the changing seasons, Claudia sets out to capture nature’s transient beauty through her mark making.
