Byre Cottages

A warm welcome awaits in this beautiful, rural spot and some families have been returning for decades! The surrounding Sussex countryside is outstanding and the working farm is at the heart of the South Downs National Park. Here you can get back to nature, enjoy some of life’s simple pleasures and leave refreshed. Our cosy holiday cottages are perfect for a summer retreat hidden away in the countryside.

Our Sussex Holiday Cottages have been attractively converted from Victorian cart-horse stabling into self-catering holiday cottages with exposed beams and flint walls. These holiday cottages form a courtyard around a lawn, with one of the oldest 15th century Tithe barns in Sussex. The historic buildings of this ancient courtyard are overlooked by the impressive stone built farmhouse mentioned as part of the manor of ‘Sillingstone’ in the Domesday Book of 1086. Sullington farmstead and holiday cottages form an iconic little piece of English history.

There’s also a good-sized, outdoor heated swimming pool, open during the summer months and a tennis court and table tennis table are available throughout your stay. Guests staying in our idyllic country cottages can enjoy footpaths and walks on the farm including the South Downs Way. There are many pubs and shops in nearby Storrington and The Cafe at The Old Workshop, is right on your doorstep, on the farm. If you are looking for a holiday place to enjoy, relax and unwind then these lovely self-catering country cottages are ideal and just an email away!

Sorry, no pets.

A Working Farm

The self-catering cottages are situated on Sullington Manor Farm, a traditional working beef and arable farm on 500 acres in the heart of the picturesque South Downs National Park.

Situated, as Sussex is, between London and the South coast of England means relatively easy access to and from the continent which means that Sussex has been inhabited for centuries. The result is – lots to see and do! There’s culture and nature when you stay at these Sussex holiday cottages.

Contact us if you would like to stay in our cottages.

The Wedding Venue Barn

Sullington Tithe barn was recorded in 1960s by Nicklaus Pevsner as the ‘finest’ barn in Sussex and is known to be one of the longest barns in Sussex. Although restored in 2013 the 400 year old barn retains its warm atmosphere and authenticity and we now offer a wonderful wedding or event venue.

Sullington Tithe Barn comes with exclusive use of all cottages so your function will not disturb other guests.  To maintain the tranquillity of the farm we only host six weddings each year.

Please get in touch if you would like to find out more.

The café at The Old Workshop, next to the church, reduces the effort of self-catering in the holiday cottages, providing fresh coffee and bacon baps, light lunches and delicious homemade cakes right on the doorstep, at weekends.
